That was me few years ago!! Whether your lower back feels tight often or occasionally, it’s important to listen to your body and take steps to loosen tension. A tight lower back can worsen and lead to more serious problems. It can also affect your daily movements such as reaching down to pick up something from the floor. Tight hamstring muscles are actually a common contributor to lower back pain.
When your hamstrings are relaxed it allows your pelvis to tilt forward. The lumbar spine will then couple this movement in the direction of the extension which takes the strain off the ligaments and disks.
Therapeutic Yoga has a high focus on lower back health and stretching of the hamstrings.
If you suffer from lower back pain you should incorporate stretching of the hamstrings into your daily routine.
